How to Choose the Right FPGA Chip for Your Project?
Evaluate memory, I/O, connectivity, and peripheral support by comparing the nominal bandwidth requirements of common interfaces.
How to Read This Chart
Use the highest required interface bandwidth as an initial sizing reference. A single 64-bit DDR4-2400 channel provides 19.2 Gbit/s of theoretical memory bandwidth, while PCIe Gen3 x4 provides approximately 31.5 Gbit/s after 128b/130b encoding.
Connectivity requirements should be evaluated together with FPGA transceiver count, I/O voltage standards, clocking resources, packet-processing capability, and available peripheral controllers. Actual throughput can be lower because of protocol overhead, memory efficiency, routing limitations, and application architecture.
